Weathering Change

A bit like the weather, it was a bit of mixed bag at Balcas last week.

We got to welcome back Martin Batts from lockdown in England, only to have to say goodbye to him as he retires!

Martin first joined Balcas in 2006, undertaking a number of key sales roles and has led the Timber Sales Team for the past 5 years, doing so with wit, humour, intelligence, and dedication.

Amongst Martin’s legacies is that he is not leaving a gap. We are delighted that Arlene Lyons has agreed to step up and expand her sales management role and take over leadership of the sales team. Arlene has grown with Balcas over the past 18 years and we are confident that she will continue Martin’s good work as well as bringing her own thorough and confident style to the job.

In retiring, Martin wished to thank his colleagues, friends and business contacts for their valued support, advice and good humour.

We wish both Martin and Arlene very well as they undertake these new chapters and challenges.
