Temporary fence posts are necessary for many requirements and applications, but when installing or replacing long term timber fence posts, you need them to last. 1) Do I need fencing posts that last for 15+ years, or is this a temporary project?

Incising is a mechanical process whereby tiny sawn slits are cut into the surface of timber fence posts around the ground contact area. These enable a deeper penetration of wood preservative into the timber structure and help achieve a longer service life.

Before treatment, the timber should be dried to remove excess moisture to allow a deep and consistent distribution and penetration of the preservative.

The preservative treatment of the timber should also be a measured and controlled process via high pressure treatment vessels which force the wood preservative deep into the timber. The wood preservative also needs to be a recognised formulation that will provide assured protection against rot and insect attack even when the timber is permanently in ground contact.
