Balcas Awarded Third Sword of Honour

In 2006 Balcas Timber took a decision to participate in the British Safety Council 5 star audit scheme. A team from the BSC come to site and spend three days auditing the safety management system. In 2008 we received 5 stars for the first time and have maintained that scoring since with an improving percentage score each year.

Obtaining 5 stars also allows a company to apply for a Sword of Honour award. This is an award given to only 40 companies worldwide that the BSC consider “safe to be in possession of a sword”. In 2012 Balcas were awarded our third Sword of Honour, having also been awarded one in 2009 and 2010.

Once again this has to be recognised as a magnificent achievement for the commitment and hard work that everybody at Balcas places on health and safety.
